2021 Fish Fry
With the pandemic continuing on into 2021, St. John’s Council #4797 in Hutchinson decided to hold their Fish Fry this year as a strictly drive through and delivery event. All food prep was done with the precautions of masks being worn, hand sanitizer and gloves worn and social distancing observed.
It takes a lot of help to pull off our major fund raiser for the council. On Friday evening there were 12 people signed up to put together the condiments packages to go with the meals. Roughly 35 people showed up to put those packets together and all was done in a little over an hour. Great team work ! On Saturday morning we had 15-20 helpers add the buns to those packages. Then starting around 11:00am the cars started rolling in to order and pick up their meals. Thanks to all of the volunteers that helped make this a great event!
Our Fish Fry helpers are putting together the meals to be taken out to cars just outside the doors.
There were two stations set up outside. At the first stop, the customer puts in their order and also pays for their dinners. The number of dinners that they order is put under their windshield wiper, so the 2nd station can relay that information inside as they move forward to pick up their dinners.

It’s hard to know what to order when we were not seating anyone as we have in the past and only serving drive through and deliveries. The council purchased 1540 pounds of fish and we ran out early. They served 1625 meals.
